Children have epiphyseal plates or growth plates at each end of a long bone like the femur. These plates add length to the bone. This is why bones increase in length in children and make them taller. Later on, these growth plates harden and stop the bones from increasing in length. This is known as growth plate fusion and occurs at the age of 14 to 21 in men and 12 to 18 in women.  On average it fuses at 18 for men and 16 for women. After this, the height of a person stops increasing. If you have surpassed this age then there is no way other than surgery that can increase your height.

This is the basic and simple truth of height. Your height is purely determined by genetics. And genes may vary. It is possible that your brothers may be taller or shorter than you.

It is very bitter, but it is better to know the truth and focus on your life than wasting hours trying stupid things to increase height that will do nothing but waste your time and money. Writing down “I will become 6ft tall” 5 thousand times a day to activate the power of manifestation will never increase your height. If writing became reality then every fictional character would become real.

Hanging to increase height

A trending claim is that you can increase your height by hanging. This decompresses your spine, making you taller by some centimeters for a few moments. But is this feasible? Will you keep hanging every hour to get the boost of couple centimeters? This is like not eating so that your weight will not increase. Your height is like your weight. It varies all day. When you sleep your spine is relaxed which can make you a little taller in the morning. Over the day as gravity acts on your spine your height can decrease. So yes stretching can decompress your spine and give you a small boost. But it will not go beyond your genetic potential. For example, astronauts in space have no gravity acting on them. Their spines do get elongated a little but they do not keep on growing. Height is genetic.

Does lifting weight decrease height

This also means that lifting weights at a young age will not hamper your growth. Children can work out under proper guidance without any worries. Weightlifting will not stunt your growth. Also, your diet will not increase your height. If it did then all of the rich billionaires would have been huge. Diet can only help if you are malnourished, which isn’t the case for you watching this video. No supplement or diet can increase your height. The effect may take place over generations and not instantly. Eating bamboo will not make you taller just like eating chicken won’t make you a chicken.

Finally, remember “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.”

“The harder they fall, the bigger I am!”
